“One thousand days of lessons for discipline; Ten thousand days of lessons for mastery.”
Miyamoto Musashi
I once heard a story of a martial arts instructor being approached to teach someone that particular style of martial arts.
The instructor said, “The first lesson is to show up at this park every day for the next 3 years at 5:30am.”
“This is to show how serious you are.”
Before expecting to master anything in life, we must create the habits of showing up every day, regardless of how we feel.
Building discipline in our lives is essential for getting good at anything and will also create an unbreakable mindset.
You can’t achieve mastery without discipline. You won’t always be in the mood to execute.
You have to override your emotions and take action consistently in order to get to where you’re trying to go.
