Discipline is mandatory. 

The level of discipline we incorporate into our lives will determine the level of freedom and autonomy we have.

We will either tell ourselves what to do or someone else will tell us what to do.

We can force ourselves to exercise or the doctor will tell us what medication to take eventually. 

We can require ourselves to build our own income stream or we will be told when we can take our lunch break.

Discipline is the differentiator. 

It will determine if we live life on our own terms or if we are helping someone else live on their terms.
